All the information presented on Fundrace.org is part of the public record and provided by the Federal Election Commission of the United States.

Anyone who contributes "hard money" to political campaigns must provide personal information. This requirement limits the political influence of wealthy, anonymous individuals and allows the public to track financial contributions that may influence the political process.

In an effort to further transparency and political accountability, FundRace.org provides an interface to help the general public understand these public records.

As such, it is our policy to not remove any data from our site that comes from the FEC reports.

We obtain our data in bulk format at http://herndon1.sdrdc.com/dcdev/

All calculations are based on records filed with the FEC of contributions by all individuals
totalling more than $200 (and some totalling less than $200) to a single
Republican or Democratic presidential campaign or national committee
between January 1, 2003 and October 13, 2004.

This site is updated according to the reporting schedule set by the FEC.
(Search results are as current as possible, maps may lag by a month or two).

Lastly, our summaries of the FEC databases are NOT perfect.
Their records are a total mess and we have done our best.
